We have moved!

Posted by on Jul 25, 2008 in Family | Comments Off

We finally moved to our new home last Saturday. It’s in a high rise. It’s not as big as what we used to live in Saskatoon but the spaces are very practical. Kids are sleeping in the master bedroom so they have their own play area and bathroom. It’s nice not to see their toys every where around the house. Toys are only allowed in their room. Colton is sleeping in the upper bunk bed and Carina is at the bottom. Colton loves his new bed and he can climb up and down without any problem. Carina seems ok with the new place. The only thing that I’m not used to is the morning sun in the rooms. The rooms get very bright in the morning so the kids are up around 6:30am – 7:00am. I couldn’t sleep in coz it was too bright.

I like the laminate floor. But since it’s dark, you can see the dust very easily. So I’m busy mopping the floor several times a day. I really like this place coz it’s small and easy to manage. I also like the location. Although it’s only less than 10 minutes away from my mom’s place. Everything seems much closer now.

I still need to go back and forth between our home and my mom’s home. We still have a lot of small things that need to be moved away. Still have to do cleaning at my mom’s place. So won’t be totally settle down for a few more weeks.

Carina is in Saskatoon!

Chris took Carina with him to Saskatoon today. She was up at 5am for her morning bottle. I changed her diaper and her outfit when she’s having her bottle. Then I told her that she’s going back to sleep for a while, I’ll wake her up later so she can fly with daddy. She said “Ho!”. So she didn’t cry at all when I wake her up. When we were at the airport, I kept telling her that she’ll gonna fly with daddy and she’ll say bye bye ma ma. She said “Ho!” again. So she didn’t cry at all when I left.

Chris said that she did so well today. She didn’t cry much and Chris has lot’s of fun today.

Well Colton is with me all day. He helped me clean up and sort things out in the garage. He knows that Carina and daddy are in Saskatoon. He said Carina has never been in Saskatoon so daddy takes her there.

What? No, you’re not!

I was sending out flyers for my piano studio. Of course I took my kids with me. Colton is old enough to help me distributing flyers from houses to houses. But all in a sudden, he said “ma ma, gup c!” ….. I said “What? No, you’re not!”. He said “yes I need to go now. I don’t know how to hold it until we’re back home.” I was so nervous, what should I do….. Should I knock on the door in the next house and ask for a washroom for him to go? Or just let him do it by a tree? …… Oh, no….I should make up my mind and act fast coz he can poop his pants any time. I finally asked him  to undress his bottom and put on Carina’s pull-up. I said just do it in the pull-up. He said “But pull-up is not a toilet, ma ma!” I said “I know, but if you need to go this is the only way to do it.” So after he’s done, I used my wet nap to clean his bum and put the soiled pull-up in the stroller. So….what I learnt from this experience is “Expect the unexpected!”

Poop picking!

Carina likes to tell us that she needs to go “Ng-Ng” or “Niao-Niao” all the time even if she has nothing to go. The other day she told grandma that she needs to go “Ng-Ng”. So my mom put her on the baby toilet seat. At the same time, Colton said he needs to go pee. So my mom took Carina down and let Colton pee in the big toilet. Carina refused to put her diaper on. So she was running around the house without diaper. After I was done cleaning Colton, I grabed Carina and laid her down to put the diaper on. What??? Poop on her bum!!! So I wiped her and put the diaper on. I asked Colton to have a walk thru in the house and search for her poop. We only found 2 small pieces. So I picked them up and threw them away. After their “fruit time”, I sat with them and watched kids’ tv together. All in a sudden I smell something really strong like poop. So I turned and looked. WOW! SO BIG! It was Carina’s poop that looked like a BIG SAUSAGE! Isn’t that amazing!

Everyone is getting sick

I want a sick leave! I’m so sick that I cough like my lungs will come out, I sneeze a hundred times in a row, my head is so heavy and the pain from my head extended to my shoulders. I took some pills and that put me to sleep. Wait! That’s not good! Who takes care of the kids if I’m sleeping? I blame all this to Colton. He took the virus home. From where? I don’t know. He got fever, coughing and sneezing since last Tuesday. His fever lasted till Saturday. He still cough every so often. But I got sick starting last Saturday and today is the worst. I couldn’t breath coz my nose is so stuffed up. But the worst part is that Carina is getting sick too. She had fever this afternoon. Last night she woke up a million times. She didn’t have fever and her nose was clear. So I suspected she had a sore throat. So I gave her Advil and hope that’ll help. But it didn’t really work. May be I should take some sleeping pills. At least I can sleep thru the night and still have energy to deal with the kids.

Colton’s preschool

June 3 is Chris’ birthday and also is Colton’s first day visiting his preschool. He clings to me for the first few minutes then he felt safe to explore the school. He likes the kitchen a lot and he spent most of his time cooking. He’s happy that there are 2 guitars at the school. There’s also a mini stage in the classroom. I really like the way they set up different stations. Colton just can’t wait going to school. It’s gonna be fun for him.

Colton’s swimming lesson

What’s so special about it? Yes, it’s very special coz it’s actually Colton’s first swimming lesson without any parents with him in the water. He fussed for about 2 mins then he’s OK with the teacher and the other classmate. Chris was standing by the pool until Colton asked him to wait against the wall where other parents were waiting. He was having fun in the lesson.

Ma-ma, come!

Yes, Carina can put a noun and a verb together at 19 months old. She can say things like ‘ma-ma, chuo (sit)’, ‘ba-ba nai nai, ma-ma bye bye’ (she wants her daddy to feed her milk instead of mommy doing it), ‘ma-ma, day day’ (she wants me to get out of my bed), ‘Gung-gung, bye bye’……

Seems like she’s able to connect 2 words earlier than Colton did.

My long lost friend

We lost contact since i got married. It was about 7 years now. I was extremely happy that I got a chance to meet my long lost friend in HK. It felt like we’ve been together forever and we just talked non-stop. Be honest, the time that we spent together at school was very short. But we just clicked! How amazing!

HK Trip

Posted by on May 21, 2008 in Family | Comments Off

The trip was good and full of excitment. The kids were doing well in flight. They had jet lag in HK and it was fixed in about 3 days. We stayed over night at Disney Land, we went to 360 cable car and had a birthday party for Colton at Ocean Park. The next week end we went orto Macau and stayed over for 1 night. The trip was all about eat, eat and eat which was good coz I love eating. A million thanks to all the chan’s family members for organizing all the exciting events.

The trip was 16 days long and which was a bit too long for me. It was crowded all the time, a lot of walking from places to places, and it’s  impossible to go out with 2 kids all by myself. Not all the mall has elevator, they don’t have automatic doors for handicaps or strollers, MTR could be the worst place to go with strollers, change tables for babies are not popular. Also, the temperature difference was huge between indoor and outdoor. I had to carry extra jackets for the kids when going in and out of a mall. It’s just too much………
