Posts related to family, enjoy!
Yesterday I got my bandage contact lenses removed. My vision was checked with my contact lenses on. My vision was 20/40 which is not bad at all. Then the nurse put some lubricant into my eyes so the contact lenses won’t be so stuck to my eyeball. Then I was called to go to another room. I was told to look up then the nurse just pinched the contact lenses out. Once they were out, my vision went down again. BLURRY! SCRATCHY! SO DRY! So I put lot’s of Bion Tears.
Today is the day after. I drive today! My vision is almost like or even better than the days with my old precripted contact lense. My eyes don’t feel scratchy at all. Sometimes I thought I was still wearing my old contact lense. Although the healing process is not very comfortable, I’m pretty happy with the result so far.
Today is day 7 after PRK. My vision is still not crystal clear yet but it almost feel like having contact lense. My vision with contact lense was not crystal clear so I’m very happy with my result so far. The scratchyness is gone but it feels like wearing dirty contact lense.
I have a post-check up appointment tomorrow and I’ll have my contact lenses removed. I’ll update with my vision after my contact lenses are out.
Day 3
It’s the worst day ever. Vision is clearer but more discomfort. Not pain, but scratchy. It was so scratchy that my right eye was so watery and I could hardly open my eyes. Left eye wasn’t as bad as my right eye. I ended up calling the clinic to reassure everything was ok. I was told to use the pain drops. It helped like magic. I still went christmas shopping too. The pain drops last for 2 hours. I put pain drops in my eyes every 2 hours even when I was out christmas shopping.
Day 4
Better than day 3. Less discomfort but vision is more blur. I didn’t put pain drops. Just rest at home with lot’s of sleeping. Very light sensitive even with indoor lighting. I put sun glasses on at home too.
Day 5
Almost feel like nothing with a little scratchyness. Vision is not crystal clear yet but it’s the best so far. However, my vision is still not good enough to drive.
Day 2 started a bit clearer in the morning. Mom drove me to the clinic and had the first post-check up. Vision is still blur but everything looks good. I was told that my vision is going to get more blur in the coming days, then it’ll get better gradually. So I’ll be patient. My left eye doesn’t feel any discomfort, but my right eye feels a little scratchy. That’s all so far. Also, I’m so happy that I can see my clock by my bed. I know things will be better, it’s just the matter of time.
I got to the clinic at 11:30am. Waited and waited, then went thru several tests. Waited and waited again. Finally got to the surgical room at 2pm. I laid down and the nursed instilled numbing drops for my eyes. The doctor put the clamp to keep my eye open. Then I kept concentrating on looking at the RED light. The red light was on top and the green light was at the bottom. I kept telling myself “red light, red light” even everything was out of focus. My right eye was lasered for 47 seconds and my left eye was lasered for 44 seconds. It didn’t hurt at all. I think I stayed in the surgical room for about 20 minutes. After the surgery, my vision was blurry. But already way better than before without glasses. I’ll go to the clinic tomorrow morning for my first check up.
So far I don’t feel any pain. Once in a while, they feel scratchy. But it’s tolerable. Everything is not as bad as what I expected. I thought I won’t be able to use the computer for a few days. But looking at the computer screen is not that bad at all. I’ll update my healing process and keep you updated!
I put Colton at the day care by the pool on Nov 29. He liked it so much. So I tried to put Carina at the day care with Colton the next day. Guess what? Colton got sick the next day. He had running nose, coughing, stuffy nose. So he couldn’t sleep at night. He slept with we for 2 nights and the 3rd night I decided not to let him come over to our room any more. He kept waking up every hour or so asking me for water one time then milk another time, then this and that non stop. But he stayed in his room. Then he slept thru the 4th night. This is not the end yet. Then I got sick the next week from Dec 6 for a week. Having the same symptom as Colton. Then it’s Carina’s turn. Her symptom was way stronger. She had a croup the night on Dec 8. She had a hard time breathing coz the virus was in her vocal cord which made her air way much narrower. Then we were at the emergency all day Sunday. They gave her medicine thru a mask then gave her a dose of steriod. She was fine the next day. But then we were at the emergency again early tuesday morning. As the medicine wore off, she got high fever. As high as 39.7 and didn’t go down after taking tylenol or advil. Wednesday, no fever anymore. But she had diarrhea. Runny poo poo just like water. The diarrhea persisted. Saturday, diarrhea plus vomiting. Sunday, diarrhea plus vomiting everything I offered to her including water. So I gave her Gravol before eating. Monday, no vomiting, no diarrhea but extremely tired and sleepy. Today, Tuesday, back to normal. Alert and be a happy baby. But…… Colton had diarrhea yesterday and he vomit once tonight…….. So all this sickness is still around…… Can you imagine my life with kids taking turns getting sick. Oh! I should mention Chris too. He got sick too and still not completely healed. So I stayed home for about 2 weeks without taking my kids to any of the playgroup. Hope I’ll have a Merry Christmas and Happy new year!
Yeah! Carina is doing a little sign starting 2 days ago. She’s doing "more", "milk", "sleep", "washing hands" and "eat". These are the basic. Being able to do these simple signs help her to express herself and she seems less fussy. I’ve been doing signs since she was 7 or 8 months old. I knew she won’t do it until after she turns one. So all in a sudden, she started all of the basic signs 2 days ago. I’ll keep doing more and encourage her to do more.
It’s snowing today. Colton is so excited about it. He’s been asking for it for a couple days. We went to the mall and got him a helmet. Hopefully he’ll have a chance to use it this winter.
Actually, he’s sick today. He’s having a low scale fever, horsy voice, sore throat, running nose, he vomited once. But, he’s still playfull and happy! That’s his personalyty. So I don’t think we’ll go out and play snow tomorrow.
Oh! No! Carina doesn’t like leaving me. She’s like a super glue. She started crying once I step away from her. I mean just one step away from her. I tried leaving her at the day care and she cried, cried and cried. She was so upset just like what Colton did last year. I’ll try again. I know it takes time, but she’ll eventaully be able to feel more secure there. I’ll keep trying it.
Poor! Colton! He was fine and happy with the day care. BUT! He got bitten when I signed him out at the day care. Poor little guy! He was crying hard but he said he doesn’t mind going back to the “School”.
I always wanted to put Colton at the day care by the pool so I can work out for an hour or so. I tried last December but he couldn’t stay for 1 min. So I waited till now. He was so excited about school, so I said we’ll go the school by the pool. I told him that he’ll stay with the teacher and mommy will pick him up later.
So I drop him off. He asked me to stay for a while. Then he found something to play and he was interested in it. So I say goodbye and leave. I took Carina with me. Colton stayed there for more than an hour without missing me at all. When it was time to go, he didn’t want to go. I was surprised. I’ll give Carina a try tomorrow.
